Day One: Favorite lead female character: I love a lot of shows with female leads, so I could say any of Buffy Summers, Wendy Watson, Sarah Connor ect. but right now it has to be Antimony Carver from Gunnerkrigg Court. She's just wonderful, I love the way that all her best qualities, her kindness, her loyalty, are things that she wants to be rather than things that come naturally to her and we get to see her struggle with treating her friends right. Her isolated childhood has left her damaged in a way that seems very real but you can also see her overcoming that damage.
Day Two: Favorite supporting female character Right now? Nina from Being Human. She's all kinds of wonderful.
Day Three: A female character you hated but grew to love That has to be Melisandre from A Song of Ice and Fire. Once I stopped seeing her through Davos' view point I actually quite liked her. Similarly Chrysalis from the Wild Cards series. And, going back to ASOIF, Brienne is a lot more interesting than she first appears.
Day Four: A female character you relate to: Her life is magnitudes more unpleasant than mine but I relate quite a bit to Katniss from the Hunger Games in her less despairing moments. The difficulty understanding people in particular.
Day Five: Favorite female character on a male-driven show: Does Illyria count as female? If so her. Does Alias count as male driven? If so Nadia Santos. If neither Lilah Morgan.
Day Six: Favorite female-driven show: It's a hard one but I think I prefer Buffy the Vampire Slayer to The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
Day Seven: A female character that needs more screen time: Irene Merrywheather from Marvel's X-Men Comics. Agent Brand from same.
Day Eight: Favorite female character in a comedy: Wendy Watson from the Middleman. She's both adorable and hilarious. And reads the same comics I do.
Day Nine: Favorite female character in a drama: Atia from Rome. Magnificent character, both monstrous and sympathetic.
Day Ten: Favorite female character in a scifi/supernatural show Harriet Jones on Doctor Who. Her final scene is still to me among the very best of the show's entire history.
Day Eleven: Favorite female character in a children’s show: Rani from The Sarah Jane Adventures makes a strong bid but in the end this has to go to either Wordgirl or Katara from Avatar. Don't make me choose between those two.
Day Twelve: Favorite female character in a movie: Major Eden Sinclair, Doomsday. Not the best film ever, I'll admit, but oh do I love Eden. She just won't be knocked down for good.
Day Thirteen: Favorite female character in a book: It has to be Eowyn from Lord of the Rings. She was the first fictional character I ever imprinted on and I still adore her.
Day Fourteen: Favorite older female character: I'm trying not to repeat my answers so I won't go for Harriet Jones again. Granny Weatherwax and Nanny Ogg from Discworld then.
Day Fifteen: Favorite female character growth arc: Elaine Belloc's arc in Lucifer is pretty good. I'm not sure many people would guess where she ended up and yet it feels satisfying when she gets there.
Day Sixteen: Favorite mother character: Anyone who doesn't say Sarah Connor is objectively wrong. I can prove it with graphs.
Day Seventeen: Favorite warrior female character: Arya Stark should have this sewn up but I love cynical mentor figures even more than angry prepubescents so instead I'll go for Sgt. Jackrum from Monstrous Regiment (if he counts as female that is).
Day Eighteen: Favorite non-warrior female character: Lyra from His Dark Materials doesn't count as a warrior does she. Her, then. Or Meg Murray from the Terry Deary Tudor Terror books.
Day Nineteen: Favorite non-human female character: Kira Nerys, Delenn or Catherine Weaver. Weaver probably wins it because she just fascinates me.
Day Twenty: Favorite female antagonist: Umbridge from Harry Potter is terribly scary.
Day Twenty-One: Favorite female character screwed over by canon: This is a long fecking list. The ones that come to mind first are Lisa Snart from DC Comics and Nadia and Irina from Alias.
Day Twenty-Two: Favorite female character you love but everyone else hates: Poor Catelyn Stark. She's not half as stupid as fandom likes to pretend.
Day Twenty-Three: Favorite female platonic relationship: Antimony and Kat or Toph and Katara.
Day Twenty-Four: Favorite female romantic relationship: Question and Batwoman, Renee and Kate, DC Comics.
Day Twenty-Five: Favorite mother/daughter and/or sister relationship: Sydney and Nadia, Alias.
Day Twenty-Six: Favorite classical female character (from pre-20th century literature or mythology or the like): I thought about picking an Austen character, but Scheherazade from Arabaian Nights and Delilah from the Bible probably fascinate me more.
Day Twenty-Seven: A female character you have extensive personal canon for: Harriet Jones, due to rping her. Eden Sinclair due to playing off her at the same RP. Lisa Snart because I wanted to make sense of her and canon explains so very little.
Day Twenty-Eight: Favorite female writer (television, books, movies, etc.): Sharon Penman. "The Sunne in Splendour" is wonderful.
Day Twenty-Nine: A female-centric fic rec:Morality Chain is a rather good Azula AU, but it's a WIP so instead I'll go for this look at Gwen from Merlin.
Day Thirty: Favorite Royal Character!: Queen Atollia. She can be adorable and terrifying within the same two pages. And you can perfectly understand why so many of her men would gladly die for her.
